Letter to the Editor: Compliments to Bank Midwest and Redmond

On behalf of all area veterans, I would like to express our thanks to the Bank Midwest team.

Since their purchase of the former VFW building, they have gone out of their way to work with us. The latest example is the beautiful bronze plaque that honors all veterans on the monument behind the flag poles at their new building. This monument and the poles themselves were installed at the suggestion of the bank’s team.

They even came up with the idea of saving bricks from our old building and incorporating them into the new structure. It is a beautiful and permanent memorial and we deeply appreciate it.

Both the bank personnel and their contractor, The Redmond Company, have gone out of their way to be helpful to us in every way possible, and we wish them well in their new building.

VFW Post 1222 Adjutant

Note from The Redmond Company: Bank Midwest purchased the VFW post for their new branch in Fairmont, Minnesota.

UFCU St. Joseph Ground Breaking Ceremony

UFCU St. Joseph Ground Breaking

The Redmond Company is pleased to announce the recent ground breaking of a 9,800-square foot corporate banking center for United Federal Credit Union. The project is located at the existing main office site in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Utilizing the existing St. Joseph main office site, The Redmond Company designed a 2-story Corporate Banking Center for the United Federal Credit Union. The building will replace the existing branch with an expanded facility capable of meeting current member needs and desires. The soaring 2-story lobby incorporates glass walled offices and glass railings which flood the interior spaces with natural light and promote optimal visibility to the lobby from both the first and second floors. Amenities such as a coffee area, Wi-fi cafe and causal seating help to make the waiting area inviting. Warm branded interior colors, rich wood tones and natural stone accent walls blend to fashion an inviting, confident space. Directional signage, changeable lifestyle graphics and two 60” multi-media screens help keep the space intuitive, dynamic and flexible.

The exterior design goal was to ensure the new banking center building was sensitive to the exterior vernacular of the existing main office and the surrounding residential neighborhood; however, the overall exterior design needed to allow the building to stand on its own. The new building utilizes an abundance of glass, surrounded by brick and masonry walls capped with a gently sloped hip roof. These elements, in proper scale, meld to make an inviting, thoughtful and visually salient composition. Additionally, the building is set back on the site and surrounded by an abundance of landscaping further softening the overall visual presentation to South State Street.

This is Redmond’s fourth project with United Federal Credit Union.

United Federal Credit Union has served members since 1949 and has more than 120,000 members worldwide. It manages assets in excess of $1.57 billion. In addition to its nine branches in southwest Michigan, UFCU serves members through locations in Arkansas, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Ohio.

UFCU Niles Operation Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

UFCU Niles Operation Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Redmond Company is pleased to announce the recent ground breaking of a 20,000-square foot operations center for United Federal Credit Union. The project is located at 2100 S. 11st Street in Niles, Michigan.

Utilizing the existing Niles site, The Redmond Company designed a 2-story corporate office building that will serve as a regional operations center for the growing and expanding credit union. The soaring 2-story lobby incorporates full height glass which flood the interior spaces with natural light. Amenities such as, a coffee area and causal seating help to make it the “hub” of the building’s activity. Additionally, several smaller flexible open gathering zones spotted throughout the building promote impromptu meetings and collaboration. The interior work spaces are open and flexible, employing only a minimum of perimeter offices and maintaining core functions towards the center of the building. These design concepts work collectively to ensure almost all the building’s residents have a clear sun-drenched view to the exterior.

This is Redmond’s third project with United Federal Credit Union.

Completion of Port Washington State Bank projects

Port Washington State Bank Saukville

The Redmond Company is pleased to announce the recent completion of two projects for Port Washington State Bank in Belgium and Saukville, Wisconsin.

The Redmond Company was selected for design and construction for this long standing client’s branch remodels.

Belgium’s remodel included both interior and exterior renovations to an existing 50+ year old branch facility. Redmond will bring in some of Port Washington State Bank’s branding elements. The exterior design replaces the dated storefront windows with energy efficient windows that are a better scale for a financial institution and incorporate a new base and sill at these locations. The building is accented with a new EIFS cornice with a new entry canopy in a design that is complementary to Port Washington State Bank’s Cedarburg branch (which was also renovated by The Redmond Company). The drive up canopy also incorporates the new cornice design and a vertical EIFS pier clearly defines the extent of the bank’s branch in relationship to the next door Post Office tenant. On the interior, Redmond has designed (2) new private offices, an updated teller line and waiting area with flat screen TV, an updated employee lounge, and new finishes to incorporate the bank’s brand.

The goal of the Saukville project was to update the interior of Port Washington State Bank’s branch to incorporate technology and create a more inviting lobby space, incorporating elements of Port Washington’s brand. The design brings warmth into the lobby with a new stone fireplace surrounded by natural wood built-ins that highlight PWSB’s marketing materials and PC tablets for customer use. A new comfortable, spacious waiting area is defined by new copper ceiling panels, a design feature from Port Washington State Bank’s Cedarburg branch. A relocated teller line incorporates the warm copper-tone stone cladding and maximizes efficiency between the drive up functions and lobby tellers. New private offices, updated restrooms, and an updated employee lounge give the entire branch a warm, updated feel.
