24 Mar State Bank of Newburg
Excitement is building for the State Bank of Newburg’s expansion into the historic town of Barton, near West Bend, Wisconsin. The new, prominent corner location will provide financial services to the nearby residents in the northwestern part of the county and support the local area with a welcoming space for community functions with views of the nearby Milwaukee River.
The expansive corner lot, while advantageous for the community, presented its own set of construction challenges. Working closely with the local survey and engineering team, The Redmond Company designed a large, vegetative tiered retaining wall to address the site’s topography. This solution manages run off, prevents erosion, and enhances the building’s curb appeal and outdoor aesthetics, while prominently displaying the main monument sign.
Connecting the interior and exterior, the Redmond architectural team designed the two-story, open lobby with rounded corners and expansive windows, bringing natural light into the lobby from multiple angles to create a bright and airy atmosphere. This emphasis on natural light extends to the second story where a patio area and community room offer a welcoming space for bank staff and the community. Natural materials were used throughout the 9,400-sf building, both internally and externally, creating a connection to the nearby Milwaukee River.
Acknowledging the State Bank of Newburg’s 110 plus-year history, the design team incorporated a glass display case in the entry vestibule to feature historical artifacts from the bank’s past, including a pistol used in the first of its two robberies.
Redmond is honored to provide the Barton area with a beautiful new State Bank of Newburg building that respects their history, the nature surrounding the site, and the community.
