Home State Bank in Crystal Lake, IL partnered with The Redmond Company to modernize their staff and client experience with an interior renovation and drive-up canopy addition. Set to be completed in September of 2026, this 10,200-sf transformation will enhance both operational efficiency and customer service capabilities.
The financial institution was faced with the common challenge of outdated interior spaces being operationally inefficient and inconvenient for clients. The existing drive-up service was housed in a separate adjacent building, creating inefficiencies in service delivery and property management. Thus, there was a need to add a new drive-up canopy directly to the main building.
The goal of the renovation is to create a welcoming, modern environment that balances openness with functionality. This effort began with the team creating a curved lobby ceiling design that will improve the spatial flow and acoustics of the member service area. An advanced technology feature being installed is an electrified glass wall separating the new boardroom from the main lobby area. This technology allows the glass to switch from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button, providing privacy when needed, while maintaining the open, connected feel of the space when transparent.
Supporting clients through the decision-making process is a central service element for The Redmond Company. Recognizing that too many options can sometimes overwhelm decision-makers, the design team took a strategic approach by curating and limiting design choices on the most impactful options. Frequent meetings and proactive communication facilitated the decision-making process, supporting schedule progression and ensuring alignment to their vision and budget requirements.
