29 May Award-Winning Design: Universal 1 Credit Union Earns ASID Design Excellence Silver Award
The Redmond Company is honored to announce that our interior design work for Universal 1 Credit Union’s (U1CU ) main office in Dayton, OH has received a Design Excellence Silver Award in the Financial Institutions category from the Wisconsin chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
Redmond transformed U1CU’s 23,000-sf facility, built in the 1960s, into a modern workspace that integrates U1CU’s brand message into the interior design. The result is a building where brand identity, collaboration, and member experience are now synchronized. From flexible meeting spaces and a central gathering hub to a ceiling element that mirrors the credit union’s logo and doubles as a directional guide through the interior space. At the heart of the facility, the “Central Hub” functions as both a daily break room and an expandable gathering space, with dedicated display areas celebrating U1CU’s long history.
Brand identity was built into the design from day one. Blue-and-orange curved ceiling soffits that echo the shape and colors of the U1CU logo serve double duty as wayfinding throughout the lobby area, while a careful balance of navy, blue, and orange against whites and grays carries the institution’s identity across both retail and office areas. The result is a workplace that represents the brand values while strengthening collaboration, efficiency, and the experience of both members and employees.
