Universal Credit Union – Beavercreek OH

Universal 1 Credit Union engaged The Redmond Company to renovate its Operations Center in Beavercreek, Ohio. The 10,900-sf, three‑story interior remodel focuses on creating a more efficient layout that supports current workflow and reflects the credit union’s updated interior brand. The project maximizes unused and underutilized space to better serve employees and members throughout the building.

Redmond’s integrated design/build approach provides Universal 1 with a single, coordinated team throughout the process. Early visual tools, including floor plans, 3D views, renderings, and scope summaries, helped Universal 1 evaluate options and confirm a direction that balanced functional improvements with a tightly managed budget. Redmond’s prior work on Universal 1’s River Park branch established the interior prototype standards, enabling the team to integrate those elements efficiently while adapting them to the existing building and the goals of this renovation.

A major design update revitalizes the previously isolated two‑story rotunda entry. Relocating the retail area closer to the rotunda shortens the distance from entrance to service and improves visibility for staff. The rotunda now serves as a centralized waiting area filled with natural light and branded features, including a display room for Universal 1’s historical artifacts. Acoustical challenges in the tall space are addressed through targeted materials, ceiling clouds, and customized radial baffles that reinforce the credit union’s identity. Additional interior updates support daily operations: curved ceiling soffits echo the Universal 1 logo, colorful acoustical wall panels enhance the call center environment, and flexible lower‑level training areas with whiteboard walls and movable furniture adapt easily as needs evolve.

An interesting feature of the renovation is the boardroom’s conference table: a 16‑foot oak table originally used during the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords at Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base. Its presence is especially meaningful to Universal 1 because NCR, the organization that loaned the table for the negotiations, is the same institution where Universal 1 began as an employee credit union in 1937. After a former CEO recognized the table at Mendelson’s Liquidation Outlet and preserved it, its placement in the renovated boardroom serves as a symbol of Universal 1’s roots and longstanding ties to the region.

The remodel strengthens operational efficiency and aligns the Operations Center with Universal 1’s current branded direction. Redmond’s familiarity with the credit union’s standards, combined with our design/build delivery method, provides a streamlined, transparent process that helps Universal 1 navigate functional needs, budget constraints, and prototype integration with confidence.
