Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) is investing in a new main office in Alpena, Michigan that transforms a former diesel service property into a modern three‑story facility designed to strengthen member services, support long‑term operational growth, and elevate the M‑32 corridor with a community-focused financial branch, coffee shop, and conference center.
The Redmond Company is leading the real estate site selection, brokerage and design/build for the headquarters. This program supports AAACU’s expanding administrative needs while establishing a member‑focused environment at the heart of the building. A two-story lobby creates a bright, welcoming arrival experience, while extensive glazing throughout the building provides abundant natural light and scenic exterior views, fostering a strong connection between AAACU employees, customers, and the surrounding landscape.
The site plan introduces extensive landscaping, including trees that frame the building, and provides nearly 200 parking spaces with capacity for future expansion. Approved stormwater management, lighting, signage, utility, and drainage systems support the development, and existing wetlands remain undisturbed to preserve natural features within the site.
AAACU’s investment continues its long‑standing commitment to the region it has served since 1953. The headquarters has the potential to generate professional employment, increase local spending, and support long‑term community initiatives such as financial education, housing programs, and small‑business lending.
With Planning Commission approval in place, the project moves through additional permitting and coordination among AAACU, township staff, MDOT, and contractors. Redmond remains actively engaged as the headquarters progresses toward construction.
