Rod Baker Ford has been a part of the Plainfield, Illinois, community for over 50 years. During that time, they have become known as a reputable dealership and service department. Their good reputation has meant significant growth and their current facility no longer allows them to serve the needs of their customers.
The Redmond Company worked with Rod Baker Ford to design and build a new 66,000 sf facility in Plainfield that will help them better serve their community. The new facility is located on what was an undeveloped 14-acre site which is closer to many of the area’s newest amenities. It has a better commercial presence and allows for a larger vehicle inventory. The facility includes a new showroom, office area and service area. The new service area, with nineteen standard service bays, two alignment bays, twelve oversized service bays and eight wash and detail bays, triples their current service operation.
The new Rod Baker Ford main showroom has the ability to fit at least six vehicles. A secondary showroom provides space for four accessorized vehicles or Baker’s customized and collector vehicles. The service write-up area allows the service department to quickly check important service items before the customer gets out of their car and features in-floor radiant heat and air conditioning to provide extra comfort for the technicians.
The façade of the facility features metal panels and curtainwall to meet Ford design requirements and the remainder of the building is constructed of precast concrete wall panels. The panels are aesthetically pleasing, durable and were quicker to install, which allow the building to be enclosed quickly, alleviating some of the potential for winter conditions cost.
