Scope

As the 6th Qdoba Mexican Grill project for the Pranke Development Group, the design and construction process of this new ground-up building was slightly different than the other restaurants completed by Redmond in the Southeastern Wisconsin area.

 

Located in a historic area of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this restaurant on the corner of Brady Street & Warren Street was designed to seamlessly integrate into, but not compete with, the surrounding architectural details of the neighborhood. Filled with character and charm, the Brady Street neighborhood is an eclectic mix of unique buildings tightly grouped around a dynamic street environment.

 

The building was carefully squeezed onto a rectangular lot measuring 27′ wide and 90′ deep. The building exterior features fiber cement siding and standard red brick to keep in tone with the neighborhood aesthetics. The unique details of the building exterior incorporated design elements that were inspired by the recurring architecture found on many of the existing buildings on Brady Street.

 

An additional distinctive design consideration was how the building would interact with the cultural environment of Brady Street. The intention was for the interior of the building to embrace and become an extension of the lively pedestrian streetscape outside. To accomplish this, the main entry is recessed into the building to allow that space to engage and become a continuation of the small plaza at the street corner. Additionally, outdoor balcony seating on the second level and on the patio adjacent to the building allow the sights and sounds of the neighborhood to permeate the restaurant’s interior space.

 

Totaling approximately 3,000 square feet of restaurant space, the interior design of this restaurant features Qdoba’s new brand elements.
