Athens State Bank has experienced strong growth. Adding the New Salem branch will help them to provide additional services and convenience to their customers in the Petersburg, Illinois, and surrounding markets, thus complementing its other retail locations.

The timeless beauty of this contemporary 4,250 sf prairie-style structure is located on the corner of State Highway 97 and Boy Scout Trail in Menard County, just south of Petersburg. The facility was designed to provide ease of use to its customers, both inside and outside. The interior, with its rich blend of colors, materials and beautiful lannon stone walls, and lounge area, provides a warm and inviting experience for customers.

In order to maintain the bank’s many connections to the Athens community, Redmond incorporated a number of design elements including the relocation of the original 1910-era vault door from the first Athens State Bank, to the new facility. In addition to the directional design elements, a large sculpture of the Athens State Bank “tree” logo reinforces the bank’s strong roots in the community as it hangs on the stone wall in the lobby.
