Ideally situated in the heart of downtown Madison, Wisconsin—between the State Capitol and the Monona Terrace Convention Center—Johnson Financial Group’s 10 E. Doty Street location was due for a thoughtful design refresh. The Racine-based bank has long occupied the historic Block 89 ten-story building and partnered with The Redmond Company to renovate the first, seventh, and eighth floors. This 33,000-square-foot transformation extends the award-winning office design style first established at Johnson Financial Group’s Cathedral Square location in Milwaukee.
Drawing on a long-standing partnership and deep experience working within historic structures, Redmond updated both the branch and administrative spaces with a focus on functionality, collaboration, and preservation. Enhancements include new community spaces designed to support collaboration and public events, offices thoughtfully set back from perimeter walls to preserve the building’s historic character, and the integration of demountable wall systems to enhance acoustics and privacy.
Successfully aligning Johnson Financial Group’s established brand standards with the unique requirements of a historic renovation required intentional, ongoing communication. Transparency and collaboration throughout the process ensured alignment, informed decision-making, and project efficiency—hallmarks of The Redmond Company’s values and a defining element of its enduring partnership with Johnson Financial Group.
